Cindy joined DGI in 2000 and was promoted to Operations Team Leader in 2008.
Before coming to DGI, Cindy spent four years as a portfolio manager assistant with another RIA firm in Minneapolis.
At DGI, Cindy has been instrumental in streamlining and improving the functionality of the firm’s processes. Promoted to Operations Team Leader in 2008, Cindy’s team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing DGI’s system procedures. She was once voted “Person most likely to automate herself out of a job.”
“The running joke is that Cindy is going to automate all of us out of a job,” says Sheri Lietzke, DGI Director of Client Relationships. “She and Jeanne (Heitz) are the tag team of automation, which has really helped make our jobs easier.”
Cindy led the initiative to convert the former DGI portfolio management software system to the more advanced Advent Portfolio Exchange Software System. “It was a process that took about 10 months, and totally transformed our processes by integrating our CRM and portfolio accounting software onto a single SQL-based platform.”
“Our firm has to reconcile with 37 different custodians across 350 accounts,” explains DGI Director of Marketing Robert Buss, “and Cindy and Jeanne have the systems up and running every day before the market opens.”
“You never think about those things until they break,” adds DGI CFO Rick Martin, “but with Cindy and Jeanne, nothing ever breaks. They’re like elves who come out at night and do all these things to keep the business working that no one else knows about.”
Twins and travel
Outside of work, Cindy and her family are fans of the Minnesota Twins, and often attend games in the new Twins ball park. She also enjoys riding her bike, practicing yoga, taking her two shelties to the dog park, and traveling the country with her husband.
